Our Story

On November 27th 2025, Thanksgiving day, I went into labor with our first baby and made our way to the hospital full of excitement. This perfect baby we had waited nine months to meet was finally going to arrive. When we got to the hospital and the nurses attached the monitors, we could very quickly tell something was wrong. Within minutes of arriving, our worst nightmare was confirmed. Our precious Emilia had no heartbeat. My world shattered and the future I had planned for nine months, but also since I was a little girl, disappeared. Before even leaving the hospital - after undergoing a cesarean section and grieving the loss of my daughter, it was brought to my attention that I would no longer receive maternity leave pay, as I no longer had a child to care for. I was now forced to face the reality that I would potentially have go back to work so we would not have to stress about finances, rather than staying home to grieve and heal both physically and mentally. Thankfully, the community that surrounds us came together and raised an overwhelming amount of money to support us, and that financial burden was lifted. But, after much research, I became aware that this is a reality that many women face and it is a gap that needs to be filled.
